The regulations of the University of Zagreb and FFTB govern most answers to the questions below

Students familiarise themselves at the beginning of their studies with the provisions of the following documents:

Request to the Vice Dean for Education

A request to the Vice Dean for Education may be submitted for the following purposes:

  • suspension of student rights/status (military service, pregnancy, illness, maternity leave, exchange programs, athletes)
  • transfer to another study program within the Faculty
  • third enrollment in a course
  • exemption from payment of tuition/participation fees
  • enrollment in a course from another study programme (Elective B)
  • enrollment in more than 35 ECTS credits (maximum 50 ECTS credits)
  • recognition of passed examinations for students who studied at another higher education institution prior to enrollment at the Faculty (in accordance with Article 29, Paragraph 7, and Article 36, Paragraphs 10 and 11 of the Regulations on Studies)
  • additional information for the Diploma Supplement and other purposes

Submission:
The completed form should be submitted to the Registry office (room P04).

Decision:
A decision is issued within two weeks, and the student will be informed through the Student Office.

The required documents are specified in the Call for Applications, published at least six months before the start of classes for undergraduate programs, and at least three months before the start of classes for graduate programs.
An entrance examination is required only for admission to graduate programs for applicants who have completed a corresponding professional study program.
No, except for students enrolled in a bridging semester/year when entering a graduate program.
Full-time students do not pay tuition fees if they are enrolling in the first year for the first time, or if they have earned 55 or more ECTS credits in the previous academic year.

The enrollment fee for the first year of undergraduate and graduate programs is EUR 55.00, while the enrollment fee for each subsequent year of undergraduate and graduate study is EUR 35.00.

The fee covers student insurance, funding for the Student Council of FFTB, the Tehnologijada, student associations, and various administrative costs.

Yes. Tuition fees for the first year may be paid in two instalments:

  • First instalment: EUR 583.98
  • Second instalment: EUR 530.89

A full-time student studies according to the full course load. A part-time student covers the full cost of their studies.


Loss of Full-Time Status

A student who loses full-time status due to repeating a year may continue their studies as a part-time student, provided that the total duration of study does not exceed twice the prescribed duration.


Part-Time Status – Key Information

  • Studies are conducted according to the full teaching schedule
  • Typically, 30–60 ECTS credits are enrolled per academic year
  • The student bears the full cost of tuition
  • Students are not entitled to standard student benefits (except for student employment and health insurance)

Returning to Full-Time Status

A return to full-time status is possible if the student:

  • regularly fulfills their study obligations
  • has a grade average equal to or higher than the programme average
  • is able to complete the programme within twice the prescribed duration of study
Student status remains valid until 30 September of the last enrolled academic year. It may be terminated through withdrawal from studies or upon completion of the study program.

Student rights and obligations may be suspended in the following cases:

  • non-active military service
  • pregnancy
  • parenthood (until the child reaches one year of age)
  • maternity and parental leave
  • illness or other justified reasons lasting longer than 3 months
  • international mobility longer than 30 days during the teaching period, if no ECTS credits are awarded
  • other justified cases in accordance with the law

How to request suspension of studies?

  • a written request (application to the Vice Dean for Education) must be submitted with supporting documentation within 3 months from the date the reason occurred
  • suspension may be granted for one semester or one academic year

Important information

  • during the suspension period, students may take exams if they have met the requirements
  • students may not attend classes or earn ECTS credits
  • most student rights are suspended (except health insurance)
  • the suspension period is not counted towards the total duration of studies
  • if the study program changes during the suspension period, the student must complete any additional requirements (i.e. attend and pass newly introduced courses)
A full-time student may repeat each academic year only once.

Transfer to another study program (within the Faculty or from another higher education institution) is possible, provided that the student has passed all examinations in the previously enrolled program.


Transfer Procedure

The student submits a request to the Vice Dean for Education stating the reason for the transfer.

The following documents must be attached:

  • a certified transcript of records
  • a certified study program syllabus (students of FFTB are not required to submit these documents)

The request must be submitted no later than seven days before the enrollment deadline for the academic year.


Ranking of Applications (if the number of requests exceeds available places)

If the number of applications exceeds available capacity, a ranking list will be established based on the following criteria:

  • grade point average
  • number of passed examinations
  • earned ECTS credits
  • duration of studies

Recognition of Examinations

Previously passed courses may be recognized.

To request recognition of examinations, the student must submit a written request to the Vice Dean for Education.

Request to the Vice Dean

The student submits a written request to the Vice Dean for Education for the recognition of previously passed examinations, along with:

  • a certified transcript of records from the previous study program
  • a certified, detailed course description (syllabus)

They are available via Studomat and the Sceduly system. All schedules are governed by the Academic calendar.
Course literature is available through the Merlin system and course webpages. It can also be borrowed from the FFTB Library or the National and University Library in Zagreb.
Exams must be registered for or withdrawn from via Studomat no later than three working days before the exam.
Assessment methods are determined autonomously by the course instructor in accordance with the intended learning outcomes.
A student has the right to appeal a grade within 24 hours and the right to request an examination before an examination committee.

  • Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) thesis: by the beginning of the 6th semester
  • Graduate (Master’s) thesis: by the end of the 3rd semester
  • Bachelor’s thesis: a person holding a doctoral degree (PhD)
  • Master’s thesis: a faculty member with the academic rank of Assistant Professor (docent) or higher
  • Bachelor’s thesis: a 5-minute presentation
  • Master’s thesis: a 25–30 minute defence before an examination committee
After the thesis defence and entry of the final grade, a certificate is issued and remains valid until the formal graduation ceremony.

European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a measure of student workload.

1 ECTS credit = 29–30 hours of student work.

Yes, the diploma is generally recognized abroad. However, additional certification (an Apostille) is often required, which is issued by municipal courts.
Academic excellence is recognized through the Rector’s Award and various scholarships.
Students should contact the Office for Students with Disabilities and provide relevant medical documentation.
The language of instruction is Croatian. The completion rate for graduate programs is high, at 97%.
There is also a study in English.
