The Laboratory was established in 1956 as the Department of Analytical Chemistry within the Food Technology and Technology Section of the Faculty of Technology. Since the founding of the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology in 1979, the Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry has operated as an independent scientific and educational unit within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Initially, classes were held at several locations, including the Marijan Badel factory and the Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry of the Mining Section of the Faculty of Technology. In 1963, the then Department of Analytical Chemistry was allocated new premises (totaling 380 m2) following the construction of the new building of the Faculty of Technology and the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering at Pierottijeva 6.
