Physical and Health Education (TZK) classes at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology in Zagreb were introduced in 1983, in the form of exercises.

The exercises are held at the sports hall at Kačićeva 23, SRC Jarun, the "Mladost" Indoor Swimming Pool, Medvednica Nature Park and Maksimir Park, and are mandatory in the 1st and 2nd years of undergraduate studies.

The first TZK instructors were Ratko Karković, Professor, and Ljubomir Milošević, Professor.

Since 1996, the Chair of Physical and Health Education has operated within the Department of General Programmes, and following the retirement of the instructors, the following were appointed:

Lidija Podvalej, Professor, appointed to the position of Lecturer in May 1997, and to Senior Lecturer in January 2003.

Neven Karković, Professor, appointed to the position of Lecturer in March 2006, and to Senior Lecturer in November 2011.
