Quality Evaluation and Improvement

The areas of internal quality assurance and enhancement at the Faculty are described in the Quality Manual of UZ FFTB and are aligned with the relevant national and international legislative frameworks, standards, and other regulations.

The procedure for internal evaluation according to ESG standards is defined by the Quality Manual of the University of Zagreb, and UZ FFTB supplements it with audit requirements according to the international ISO 9001 standard.

The Committee for Internal Quality Assurance System Evaluation at UZ FFTB is responsible for planning and implementing internal audits in cooperation with qualified ISO auditors, ensuring that evaluating one's own area of work is not permitted. The audit is conducted at least once every three calendar years, or within a cycle shorter than the external evaluation cycle, preferably immediately following the academic year being evaluated.

Internal evaluation according to the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard is conducted annually by the UZ FFTB Risk and Opportunity Team. Exceptionally, in years where an internal evaluation according to ESG standards is planned, an additional ISO 9001:2015 audit is not required due to the integrated nature of the quality assurance requirements.

Internal evaluation procedures are appropriately documented and distributed. The internal evaluation report based on ESG standards is presented to the Faculty Council, published publicly, and submitted to the University of Zagreb.

External evaluation is primarily conducted by the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE) through the following procedures, depending on the subject of evaluation:

  • Initial accreditation
  • Re-accreditation of higher education institutions
  • Thematic evaluation in higher education
  • External independent periodic assessment of the quality assurance system (audit) of higher education institutions
  • Re-accreditation of doctoral study programs
Note: The method of conducting these procedures is defined by the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE).

UZ FFTB analyzes findings and recommendations from external evaluations to plan and implement activities, using efficiency analysis to guide further development. Reports on the implementation of these activities are also regularly provided.
