The Section for Mathematics, Physics and Informatics was established in the autumn of 1957. For many years, it operated outside the existing departments and chairs. Since 1972, it has been part of the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Technology, and now of the Department of Process Engineering at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology. In 2025, it was renamed the Cabinet for Mathematics, Physics and Informatics.
