Laboratory for Unit Operations was established in 1956 as the Department of General Operations in the Food Industry with Fundamentals of Process Design. During the first years of its operation, the curriculum was shaped by prominent experts such as Professor Veljko Brlek, PhD, and Professor Ivan Lovreček, PhD.

Throughout its history, Senior Lecturer Svetozar Stanišić, Professor Egon Bauman, PhD, and Professor Branko Tripalo, PhD, played a key role in the development of the "Unit Operations" course. Since 2001, Professor Damir Ježek, PhD, has also been involved in teaching, continuing the long-standing tradition of excellence in engineering education.

Today, under the leadership of Associate Professor Sven Karlović, PhD, the laboratory remains an indispensable component in education at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology.
