Laboratory for Water Technology is engaged in education, scientific research and professional support in the field of water treatment. Through teaching at undergraduate and graduate studies, students are enabled to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in drinking water preparation technology, wastewater and process water treatment, and the application of modern analytical methods.
The scientific research activities of the Laboratory are focused on the development and application of advanced technologies in water treatment, with an emphasis on membrane processes, advanced oxidation processes, ion exchange and biological methods. Research includes the removal of inorganic and organic contaminants (iron, manganese, arsenic, nitrates, organic micropollutants) from drinking water, the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater using membrane bioreactors, and the preparation of process water for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
In addition to applied research, the Laboratory actively cooperates with industrial and municipal partners through the development and design of technological solutions, pilot testing, technological supervision, plant commissioning, and consulting on the selection and optimization of water treatment processes. Long-standing cooperation with water supply companies, the food industry and international institutions (IHE-Delft, European Commission, World Bank) confirms the recognized expertise of the Laboratory in Croatia, the region and beyond.
